What do you think about playing music for children in class?

I think playing music for children in class can be very effective, as long as it is used with a clear purpose rather than just as noise in the background. For younger learners especially, songs can make lessons more memorable because rhythm and repetition help them absorb language, numbers, or even classroom routines. It can also create a warmer atmosphere, so children feel less anxious and more willing to participate. Many teachers incorporate music because it changes the pace of a lesson and keeps children engaged. For example, a short song can be used to introduce a topic, calm students down after an active task, or help them remember vocabulary. That said, I don’t think music should be playing all the time, because some children may find it distracting, particularly when they need to read, write, or concentrate deeply. The same idea applies to shops and films. In a shop, music can make the environment feel more pleasant, and it may influence how long people stay or even what kind of products they notice. Slow music might encourage customers to browse more calmly, while upbeat music can make a store feel lively and energetic. In films, background music is even more powerful because it guides the audience’s emotions. People may not consciously notice it, but it can build suspense, create sadness, or make a scene feel more romantic. So, even if the music is subtle, it often shapes our experience more than we realize.
