In my country, I’d say children spend a moderate amount of time with their parents, but it varies a lot depending on the family. On weekdays, many parents are busy with full-time jobs, commuting, and household responsibilities, while children often have school, homework, and extra classes. So in many families, real quality time may only happen during dinner, in the evening, or at weekends. Personally, I don’t think it is always enough, because being in the same house is not the same as having meaningful conversations or doing things together. Spending time together is extremely important because it helps build trust and emotional security. When parents regularly talk, play, or even do simple daily routines with their children, children are more likely to feel listened to and supported. In recent years, I think parent-child relationships have become more open in some ways, because many modern parents try to understand their children’s feelings rather than simply giving orders. However, digital devices have also created distance, since both adults and children can be physically together but mentally absorbed in their own screens. Today, popular free-time activities for children include watching videos, playing online games, using social media, going to shopping malls, and joining sports or art classes. Some of these activities are healthy, especially sports, music, or outdoor play, because they develop confidence and social skills. But too much screen time can affect children’s eyesight, sleep, and attention span. In the future, I think children’s activities will become even more technology-based, with virtual reality, AI learning tools, and online communities. This could be positive if technology is used creatively and in moderation, but children will still need face-to-face interaction and physical activity to grow up in a balanced way.
