In my country, I’d say rice is probably the product people consume the most. It’s not just a side dish; for many families it’s the centre of almost every meal, from breakfast rice dishes to lunch and dinner. The main reason is that rice is affordable, widely available, and deeply connected to our food culture. Even when people eat noodles, bread, or Western food more often nowadays, rice still feels like the default choice at home. If I bought a particular type of rice or a new brand, I might mention it to my family, especially if it tasted better or was good value for money. But it’s not the kind of purchase I would usually tell friends about unless we were already talking about cooking or groceries. Everyday products like this are so routine that people don’t really announce them. As for the habit of buying new things instead of repairing old ones, I think it’s convenient but also quite wasteful. Sometimes replacement makes sense because repairs can be expensive or parts are hard to find. However, this throwaway culture creates more waste and makes people less patient with the things they own. I think governments and companies should make repair services easier and more affordable. People in different regions like different foods because climate, local ingredients, history, and lifestyle all shape their tastes. For example, coastal areas may eat more seafood, while mountainous regions may prefer heartier dishes that suit colder weather. Over time, these eating habits become part of regional identity, so food is not only about taste but also about tradition and belonging.
