Emails and handwritten letters differ mainly in speed, convenience, and emotional value. An email is almost instant, easy to edit, and practical for work, study, or daily arrangements. A handwritten letter, on the other hand, takes more effort, so it often feels more personal and memorable. The handwriting, the paper, and even small imperfections can make the message feel warmer and more sincere. I don’t think handwritten letters will completely become obsolete, although they will probably be used much less often. For routine communication, emails and messaging apps are simply too efficient. However, for special occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, apologies, or long-distance friendships, a handwritten letter can still carry a sense of intimacy that digital messages often lack. We should write letters to friends and relatives because letters encourage us to slow down and express our thoughts more carefully. A good letter should be clear, thoughtful, and well-organised, but it should also sound genuine. In my view, the most important quality is sincerity, because people usually remember how a letter made them feel more than the exact words used.
