Gợi ý & tài liệu
People choose public transport mainly because it is practical and affordable. In many cities, taking a bus, metro, or train is much cheaper than owning a car, especially when you consider fuel, parking fees, insurance, and maintenance. It can also be less stressful because passengers do not have to drive through heavy traffic themselves, and in places with reliable systems, public transport can be faster than private cars during peak hours. That said, people are also travelling by plane more often because it saves a huge amount of time, especially for long-distance trips, and budget airlines have made flying more accessible. However, I don’t think free public transport alone would completely solve urban traffic problems. It might encourage some people to leave their cars at home, but if services are crowded, slow, or poorly connected, many commuters will still prefer driving. Public transport does have clear disadvantages. It can be overcrowded, delayed, uncomfortable, and less flexible than travelling by car. During rush hour, commuters often face long queues, packed carriages, and unpredictable journey times. In terms of cost, walking and cycling are probably the cheapest ways to travel, while private jets, long international flights, or even owning a car in a big city can be among the most expensive options.
