Gợi ý & tài liệu
Friends tend to make both short-term and long-term plans together. On a simple level, they might plan holidays, birthday parties, study schedules, or weekend activities. But as they get older, the plans can become more serious, such as moving into shared accommodation, starting a small business, travelling during a gap year, or even choosing universities in the same city. I think friends often make plans that are connected to enjoyment, independence, and shared interests. When it comes to future plans, I would say friends and family play different roles. Friends can be very useful because they understand your lifestyle and may be going through the same stage of life, so conversations with them can feel more open and less pressured. However, family members usually have more life experience and may think more carefully about financial stability or long-term consequences. Ideally, people should listen to both, but they should not simply copy their friends. A plan that suits one person may not fit another person’s strengths, values, or circumstances. This is especially true when choosing what to study or what career to follow. I do think it is helpful if a course has a clear link to a career, because education is a big investment of time and money. At the same time, not every useful degree leads directly to one job, and some subjects develop transferable skills like communication, analysis, or problem-solving. Getting work experience before choosing a career is valuable because it gives people a realistic picture of the workplace, not just an idealised version of it. Changing careers is possible nowadays, but it is not always easy. It depends on the industry, the person’s financial situation, and whether they are willing to retrain or start again at a lower level.
