I think what makes someone a role model is not just success, but the way they achieve it. A good role model should have integrity, because people need to see that their words and actions match. They should also be resilient, especially when things go wrong, because that teaches others that failure is not the end of the story. In my view, humility is another important quality. If someone is talented but arrogant, people may admire their achievements, but they may not want to become like them. Children should learn from role models because they are still forming their values and habits. At that age, abstract advice like “work hard” or “be kind” may not mean much unless they can see a real person doing it. For example, a child who watches an older sibling study regularly, treat people respectfully, and take responsibility for mistakes is more likely to copy those behaviours. That said, I think adults need to help children choose role models carefully. Some public figures look successful on the surface, but they may not show healthy values behind the scenes. So the best role models are people who combine achievement with character, and who show children not only what they can become, but also how they should behave on the way there.
