Why do people like to use social media?

The advantage is that social media can spread information very quickly and help people stay in touch across long distances. It can also be useful for learning, building a personal brand, or promoting a business. However, the downside is that it can be addictive, and people may compare themselves too much with others. There is also a lot of misinformation, so users need to be quite selective about what they believe. As for making friends on social networks, I think it can be positive if people are careful. It is easier to meet people with similar interests, especially through groups or communities. But online friendship should develop gradually because people may present an idealized version of themselves.
