We should protect wild animals because they are not just beautiful creatures; they are part of the system that keeps the planet healthy. Every species has a role, whether it controls pests, spreads seeds, or maintains the food chain. If too many wild animals disappear, ecosystems can become unbalanced, and in the long run that can affect farming, water quality, and even human health. I also think we have a moral responsibility, because many animals are threatened mainly because of human activity, such as deforestation, hunting, pollution, and climate change. Some people are more willing to protect wild animals because they have had more education or direct experience with nature. For example, someone who has visited a national park or watched documentaries may feel emotionally connected to animals. Others may care less because they are focused on daily economic pressures, or they see wildlife protection as something distant from their own lives. That is why educating children is important. If children learn early that animals are living beings and that nature is interconnected, they are more likely to develop respect for wildlife as adults. Zoos can play a useful role, especially for children, if they are well-managed and focus on conservation and education rather than entertainment. Seeing animals in real life can make children curious and sympathetic. However, zoos should not be the only way children learn about animals, because animals also need proper habitats and freedom. As for rare animals, people often pay more attention to them because extinction feels permanent and dramatic. But I would say protecting wild animals and protecting the environment cannot really be separated. If we save animals without saving their habitats, the protection will not last.
