Parents usually feel proud when their children show growth, not only when they win prizes or get high marks. For example, if a child works hard for an exam, apologizes after making a mistake, or helps someone without being asked, parents may feel that their child is becoming responsible and kind. In many families, that kind of maturity can be even more meaningful than a visible achievement. I think parents should reward children, but the reward should match the behaviour. A small treat, extra play time, or simply sincere praise can motivate children and make them feel noticed. However, parents should also explain why they are proud, so the child understands the value behind the reward, such as effort, honesty, or perseverance. Rewarding children too often can be risky because they may start doing everything just for a prize. If every small action is rewarded with money or gifts, children might lose their inner motivation. As for adults, they often feel proud of themselves when they overcome a challenge, support their family, improve their skills, or make a difficult but responsible decision. In the end, pride is usually connected with effort and personal progress.
