I’d say the main difference is purpose. Younger people tend to use mobile phones as an all-in-one social and entertainment hub: they message friends, watch short videos, take photos, use maps, pay for things, and sometimes even study through apps. Older people, on the other hand, often use phones in a more practical way, such as calling family members, reading the news, checking health information, or using video calls to stay in touch with children and grandchildren. Of course, this is a generalisation, because many older people are very tech-savvy now, but the habits and priorities are often different. In terms of friendship, mobile phones can be extremely positive because they help people maintain relationships even when they live far apart. A quick message, voice note, or group chat can make friendship feel more immediate. However, the negative side is that friendships can become quite shallow if people only react to posts or send short replies instead of having real conversations. Phones can also cause misunderstandings, especially when tone is missing in text messages. I don’t think taking pictures with mobile phones is necessarily a waste of time. Photos help us record meaningful moments, and for some people photography is a creative hobby. But it can become a problem if people are so busy capturing the moment that they forget to actually experience it. As for laws, I think they are necessary in certain situations, especially when phone use affects public safety, such as texting while driving, using phones in exam rooms, or recording people without permission. So, the issue is not the phone itself, but whether people use it responsibly.
