I’d like to talk about my older cousin, Minh, who is probably one of the most intelligent people I know. He studied computer science at university and now works as a software engineer for a financial technology company. I’ve known him all my life, of course, but I really started to admire his intelligence when I was in high school and he helped me with maths and science. What impresses me most is the way he explains complicated ideas in a very simple way. For example, when I struggled with probability, he didn’t just give me formulas to memorise. He used everyday examples, like card games and weather forecasts, so I could actually understand the logic behind it. At work, he also solves technical problems that other people find confusing, and he often comes up with practical solutions rather than making things unnecessarily complicated. I think he is particularly intelligent because he has both analytical ability and emotional intelligence. He can think very logically, but he also listens carefully and understands people’s feelings. To me, that combination is rare. He doesn’t show off or try to sound clever; he just uses his knowledge to help people and make good decisions, which is why I really respect him.
