I’d like to talk about a person I met at a friend’s birthday party about six months ago. At first, I felt a bit awkward, but later I started chatting with a woman named Linh, who was a colleague of my friend. She was working as a graphic designer, and we ended up talking for almost an hour about travel, photography, and how creative jobs can be both exciting and stressful. What impressed me was that she didn’t just talk about herself. She asked thoughtful questions and really listened to my answers, so the conversation felt very natural rather than forced. I enjoyed talking with her because she had a great sense of humour and a very open-minded attitude. We had quite different backgrounds, but we somehow found a lot in common. By the end of the evening, I felt as if I had known her for much longer than just one night, which is quite rare when you meet someone for the first time at a party.
