One thing I made myself was a small wooden bookshelf for my bedroom. I made it about two years ago, during a weekend when I was trying to reorganize my room and create a more comfortable study space. I had a lot of books lying around on my desk and even on the floor, so I wanted something simple but practical to keep everything in order. I didn’t make it completely alone. My father helped me with the more difficult parts, especially measuring the wood accurately and using the electric drill. However, I designed the basic shape myself, sanded the wood, painted it a dark brown color, and put most of the pieces together. It was not perfect, but it looked neat enough, and more importantly, it was useful. I decided to make it myself because buying a bookshelf would have been more expensive, and most of the ready-made ones I saw were either too large or didn’t match the space I had. I also wanted the satisfaction of creating something with my own hands. After finishing it, I felt quite proud because it gave me a sense of achievement, and every time I use it, it reminds me that I can be more resourceful than I thought.
