One advertisement I remember disliking was for a mobile game. I saw it several times while watching short videos on social media, so it kept interrupting what I was doing. The ad was probably only about thirty seconds long, but because it appeared so often, it became quite irritating. The advertisement showed a person pretending to play the game and making really exaggerated mistakes, like choosing the obviously wrong option or failing a very simple puzzle. Then the screen would flash with phrases like “Only 1% of people can win this!” and “Download now!” The actual game looked nothing like the ad, which made it feel rather misleading. I didn’t like it mainly because it was manipulative. It tried to make viewers feel challenged or even slightly annoyed, so they would download the app just to prove they could do better. Also, the acting was over the top and the music was loud, so it felt more aggressive than entertaining. I understand that advertisements need to grab attention, but this one felt cheap and dishonest, so it had the opposite effect on me.
