One good decision someone made recently was my younger sister’s decision to turn down a higher-paying job offer and stay with her current company for another year. She made this decision about two weeks ago, after going through two rounds of interviews with a marketing agency that offered her a better salary and a more impressive job title. At first, it seemed obvious that she should accept the new position, because the money was attractive and the company looked quite dynamic. However, after thinking it through carefully, she realised that the role would involve very long hours, a lot of pressure, and almost no training. In contrast, her current manager had just offered her the chance to lead a small project and learn more about digital strategy, which is the area she really wants to develop in. I think it was a good decision because she didn’t just choose the option that looked best on paper. She considered her long-term growth, her mental health, and the kind of skills she wanted to build. In my opinion, that shows a lot of maturity. Sometimes a good decision is not the most exciting one immediately, but the one that puts you in a stronger position in the future.
