I’d like to talk about my close friend Minh, who is honestly one of the most musical people I know. We studied together at university, and although he has never been professionally trained, he has a naturally warm voice and a very good sense of rhythm. He can pick up a song quickly after hearing it just a few times, which I find quite impressive. I usually listen to him sing when we hang out with our group of friends, especially at small gatherings or karaoke nights. Sometimes he also posts short covers on social media, and I tend to play them when I’m studying or relaxing at home. His voice is not extremely powerful, but it is very expressive, so even a simple song sounds emotional when he sings it. He is particularly good at acoustic pop and ballads. He often sings Vietnamese love songs, but he can also do English songs by artists like Ed Sheeran or John Mayer. What makes his singing special is that he doesn’t try to show off too much. Instead, he focuses on the feeling of the song, and his guitar playing makes the performance even more intimate. When I listen to him, I usually feel calm and uplifted. There is something soothing about his voice, especially after a stressful day. I also feel proud of him because he has a genuine talent, and I think if he had more confidence, he could perform in front of a much larger audience.
