One good friend who is extremely important to me is Minh, a university classmate of mine. We first met during our first week at university, when we were both trying to find the right lecture hall for an economics class. It was a bit awkward at first, but we started talking, realized we had a similar sense of humor, and ended up sitting together for the rest of the semester. I have known him for about six years now, so we have gone through quite a few stages of life together, from stressful exams and part-time jobs to career decisions after graduation. What I really appreciate about Minh is that he is dependable without being dramatic. If I need advice, he listens carefully and tells me the truth, even when it is not exactly what I want to hear. He is important to me because he gives me a sense of stability. I am someone who can overthink things, especially when I have to make a big decision, but he helps me see the situation more clearly. He does not solve my problems for me, but he reminds me of my strengths and encourages me to take action. I think a friend like that is rare, and that is why I value him so much.
