One time that really stands out was about two years ago, when I was working on a group presentation at university. The person who apologized to me was one of my classmates, Minh. We were not extremely close friends, but we got along well and had worked together on a few projects before. The problem was that he forgot to send me his part of the slides before the deadline. I had stayed up quite late trying to put everything together, and because his section was missing, the whole presentation looked unfinished. At first, I felt pretty annoyed because I thought he was being careless and leaving the responsibility to the rest of us. The next morning, he came to me before class and apologized sincerely. He explained that he had had a family emergency the night before, but he also admitted that he should have informed the group earlier instead of disappearing without a message. What I appreciated was that he did not make excuses. He took responsibility and offered to revise the slides and present an extra part to make up for it. I felt relieved after his apology. I was still a little stressed, of course, but I respected the way he handled the situation. It actually improved my impression of him because it showed maturity. In the end, we managed to deliver a decent presentation, and I learned that a sincere apology can really calm things down and repair trust.
