One important old thing my family has kept for a long time is a small wooden sewing box that belonged to my grandmother. It is not very valuable in terms of money, and honestly it looks quite ordinary at first glance, but it has been in our house for as long as I can remember. The wood has become darker with age, and inside there are still some old buttons, needles, faded thread, and a tiny pair of scissors that she used almost every day. My grandmother first got it when she got married, I think sometime in the late 1960s. According to my mother, my grandfather bought it for her because she was very good at sewing and often repaired clothes for the whole family. In the past, people did not throw things away as easily as we do now, so that box was used constantly. After my grandmother passed away, my mother decided to keep it, and now it sits in a drawer in our living room. So altogether, my family has kept it for more than fifty years. This sewing box is important to us because it represents my grandmother’s care and patience. She was the kind of person who showed love through small actions, like fixing a torn shirt or sewing a missing button before someone even noticed it. Whenever my mother opens the box, she often tells us stories about her childhood and how hard-working my grandmother was. So, for my family, it is not just an old object; it is a reminder of our roots, our family history, and the quiet love that has been passed down from one generation to the next.
