One talk I remember quite clearly was a short presentation I gave to a group of first-year university students at my department. They had just started their course, and I was invited by one of my lecturers to share some practical advice from a senior student’s perspective. The talk was mainly about how to manage academic pressure and make better use of university resources. I spoke about things like planning assignments early, asking lecturers for feedback, joining study groups, and not being afraid to make mistakes in the first semester. I also included a few personal examples, such as how I struggled with time management at the beginning but gradually built a routine that worked for me. I gave the talk because the new students seemed a bit overwhelmed, and the department wanted them to hear from someone who had recently gone through the same experience. At first, I was quite nervous because I’m not naturally confident when speaking in front of a crowd. But once I saw people nodding and taking notes, I started to relax. Overall, I felt proud of myself because the talk went more smoothly than I expected. A few students came up afterwards to ask questions, which made me feel that what I said was actually useful. It was a small event, but it gave me a real sense of achievement and made me more willing to speak publicly in the future.
