A short-term job I’d really like to have in a foreign country would be working as a barista in Melbourne, Australia, probably for three or four months. Melbourne is famous for its coffee culture, and I’ve always thought it would be a great place to experience everyday life in an English-speaking country, not just as a tourist but as someone who actually works there. I first heard about this kind of job from a friend who studied in Australia and worked part-time in a small café near her university. She told me that the job was quite demanding, especially during the morning rush, but it helped her improve her English very quickly because she had to talk to customers all the time. I’ve also seen videos online about independent cafés in Melbourne, and the atmosphere looks very lively and creative. The job itself would involve taking orders, making coffee, serving food, cleaning tables, and sometimes chatting with regular customers. I know it might sound simple, but I think it would teach me a lot about communication, teamwork, and handling pressure. I’d also have to learn different coffee styles and understand Australian accents, which would be a real challenge. I want to do this job because it would give me a chance to become more independent and confident. Since it’s only short-term, I wouldn’t feel too tied down, but I could still gain valuable work experience and improve my spoken English in a natural environment. On top of that, I’d love to meet local people and understand Australian culture from the inside, rather than just visiting famous landmarks.
